ABOUT ME

I am a sophomore student at a 4 year University. I studied abroad this spring break in Quito, Ecuador. When deciding on an elective class to fulfill my course requirements, the course on the Introduction to Women’s Gender and Sexuality studies caught my attention. I became instantly interested in wanting to learn about gender roles and the impact a woman’s sexuality has on society.

Once I enrolled in the course and began engaging in the different readings on radical lesbians and transsexuals, I began to create my own perception of women’s roles in the American society. One day my professor presented the opportunity to study abroad and I was immediately intrigued by how she described Ecuador and how we would be studying women’s gender and sexuality in contemporary Ecuador. The main reason I chose the class was because I wanted to learn about the sexuality aspect of women in society, and as a result I was presented with the opportunity to study women’s sexuality in a society abroad.
